Drilling deeper, faster, smarter.

TerrAX is a super-premium PDC drill bit, tailored to wield the power of the impulse-enhanced RockAX drilling system.

RockAX and TerrAX define an advanced unified drilling system that delivers unrivalled Rate of Penetration (ROP) and bit durability in hard, ductile, interbedded or high compressive strength rock.

Applications

  • Geothermal drilling in basement, volcanic or high compressive strength rock

  • Oil and Gas drilling in hard, ductile, conglomerate or interbedded rock environments

  • Extended Reach Drilling applications with limited weight on bit

Geothermal energy is everywhere deep beneath the Earth’s surface, providing an unlimited supply of clean energy. Axion’s class leading TerrAX bit is the only bit in the world designed to wield the power of RockAX in the hard, high strength rock conditions of geothermal well bores.

Operating Principle

TerrAX transmits the impulse energy waves from the RockAX into the rock ahead of the drill bit to overcome rock strength to radically improve bit penetration and increase the rate of penetration and bit life.

The TerrAX is tough and durable; engineered with a fully tailored cutting structure and bit profile with optimised hydraulics for highly effective cuttings evacuation.

TerrAX defines the ultimate in hard rock drilling technology.
